A new chapter of healthcare in Emerald

For more than 45 years, Emerald Medical Centre has been part of the local community.

Now, alongside the long-standing medical centre, Emerald Wellness Pharmacy is bringing a new dimension to local healthcare.

Led by Pharmacist Lawrence Wong and Pharmacy Consultant Albert Yeap, the pharmacy was created with a simple goal: to make healthcare more connected, accessible and centred around the people of Emerald.

Owned and operated by Pharmacist Lawrence Wong and Pharmacy Consultant Albert Yeap, Emerald Wellness Pharmacy officially opened its doors on 21 May, welcoming around 200 local residents during the Emerald Market.

The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by the local member for La Trobe, the Hon Jason Wood, who was given a tour of the new pharmacy by Lawrence. The celebration also brought together a number of local community organisations, including the Emerald SES, Emerald Lions Club, Emerald Co-op, and Emerald Football and Netball Club. A sausage sizzle and raffle helped raise funds for the Emerald SES, making the opening a celebration not only of a new business, but of the community it hopes to serve.

Located at 348 Belgrave-Gembrook Road, and operating alongside Emerald Medical Centre, Emerald Wellness Pharmacy provides convenient access to medications, including after-hours access, while allowing doctors and pharmacists to communicate more easily about patient care.

The new development has also expanded the medical centre's facilities, with an additional room for pathology collection and a spacious new waiting area. A new accessible entrance connects the pharmacy and medical centre, making it easier for patients to access both services in one location.

But Emerald Wellness Pharmacy is about more than dispensing prescriptions. The pharmacy also offers services including home medication reviews, diabetes education and sleep studies, supporting patients beyond their everyday medication needs.
